2017's First Sunday Scramble

If there is anything that makes us Brits feel somewhat at ease, it's a cup of something hot, a bacon sandwich and fairly objectionable weather. Better still, throw a number of vintage, classic and some very modern exotica into the mix and you'll see smiles-a-plenty on just about every face that splashes through the puddles at Bicester Heritage's Sunday Scramble.

The weather, though, is to be expected with it being the second weekend in January, but that didn't put a dampener on the owners of various machinery, many of which were without the luxury of roofs and windscreens, idling through the grounds of the historic RAF base seeking a place to pull up and join the display for the first Scramble of the year.

Before long, drizzle made way to pockets sunshine that found its way into the various workshops that make Bicester Heritage what it is; a campus entirely dedicated to preserving the future of historic cars, motorcycles and aeroplanes. From engine builders, bodywork specialists to race car preparation there is quite literally something eye-catching around every corner.

This was my second visit to a Heritage event, and it is the plethora of vehicle types, and relaxed atmosphere that have lead me to stamp the dates of the years' future events in the diary so that I can once again play voyeur.
